Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I quote shipping rates? I am not a giant mail order business. My business is what is called, "home based." And therefore, I would have to, whenever shipping special orders, go to the Post Office to get the outgoing package mailed and send the final quote of cost of product, cost of handling and cost of shipping by e-mail. It would take time to determine some type of standard rate. Which, with the Post Office routinely increasing the price of postage, is inevitably going to change.
Also, because this is my first venture onto the internet, I would definitely require a learning curve to get you the best possible deal on shipping and handling.
Do I operate in more than one state? No, my business currently operates in the North Idaho county of Kootenai only. And thus for tax purposes, I expect Idaho residents to pay a 6% sales tax. Recently, I had read of a proposed bill for businesses to collect sales taxes on the behalf of states where those businesses transact sales on the internet. Should such a bill be signed into law, then you would certainly be informed. What I find interesting about such a bill, is that it asks of businesses not operating within those state boundaries to still collect taxes for them. It will be a very interesting experience.
Can you e-mail a page from the web site? I would prefer that you e-mail a link to the web site so that the individual(s) you invite can explore the site for themselves.
How long do the photos in the sampler gallery remain "up?" I plan on changing, once a month, all photos in the sampler gallery. Including the "special" gallery of Black and White and photo enhanced digital photos. Given the fact that the web site was started in late April, of 2007, it will be late May before the photos change.
Well the same be true of the digital photo greeting cards page? Actually, no. As with the needle work page, the digital photo greeting cards page are a description of what the cards can be like. If there is a photo that you'd like to see as an actual photo for the front of the greeting card, then you need only contact me.
Why don't I mention photos that can be used for signs, calenders, etc.? Because there are already companies that are dedicated to professionally creating signs, calenders, puzzles, etc. My emphasis for this web site is the nice photo for your wall, bed side, or greeting card.
What program(s) do I use for photo enhancement? Broderbund's The Print Shop could come in handy for a photo that takes on truly zany qualities. Say, an 8x11 photo base where text and graphics could be added. HP has a "text" adding feature. And Picasa from Google can literally change the color as well as adding "glow" etc. of the photos being manipulated.
Can I take portraits? I do not have a dedicated "portrait studio." But, I would not have objections to taking "location" portraits, in a setting of your desire. And there are a lot of nice locations to choose from. The Coeurd'Alene Resort, the beach, the city park, even in front of or inside a restaurant.
Can you ask if you would like your own digital photo in a greeting card? Absolutely, yes. E-mail me a copy, and suggested greeting and I will make it for you. The cost being no different than if I supplied the photo and the greeting.
